Robinhood Chain · chain id —
Cut one share into a floor and a kite.
Shoply is a design for tokenized shares. Lock one, and get two pieces back: Ballast, which keeps the steady part and hands over big gains, and Kite, which catches everything above a ceiling you can read before you commit.
Pre-launch. No contract is live, so protocol figures show — when unknown. A dash means unknown, never zero.

Mechanism
One share in, two claims out
Worked example. Every number here comes from the inputs you set, not from a market.

Final vs lock
Whole share
Ballast
Kite
Steady leg
Ballast
Follows the share up to the ceiling and stops there. In return the holder collects the auction premium up front. Fits someone who wants a cushion more than a rocket.
Value is capped at the ceiling price
Earns the premium paid by Kite
Loses along with the share on the way down
Reach leg
Kite
Costs little, pays nothing until the share clears the ceiling, then pays every cent above it. Fits someone who wants exposure to a breakout without buying the whole share.
Worth zero at or below the ceiling
One-for-one above the ceiling
Maximum loss is the auction price
Backing
Held, not borrowed
No loan underneath
Nothing is lent against anything. The locked share is the only backing, and it sits in the vault until close.
No funding meter
There is no running fee ticking against either side. The price you pay at auction is the whole cost.
No forced exit
Without leverage there is no liquidation price. A bad week hurts, but it cannot close you out mid-round.
Round flow
Five moves, start to close
Use the arrow keys to move between steps.
01
Lock
Deposit one tokenized share into a vault. It stays there until the round closes.
02
Cut
The vault mints two matching tokens against it: one Ballast, one Kite.
03
Auction
Kite goes to auction. The winning bid is paid to whoever holds the Ballast.
04
Trade
Both pieces are plain tokens. Buy, sell or hold them until the round ends.
05
Close
A single final price sets each payout. Or rejoin both pieces early to reclaim the share.

Glossary
Fifteen terms worth knowing
01
Whole
The tokenized share you lock. Everything else is measured against its price.
02
Ballast
The heavy piece. It tracks the share up to a ceiling, then stops climbing.
03
Kite
The light piece. It pays only for gains above the ceiling and is worth nothing below.
04
Ceiling
A price fixed before the round begins, so both sides know the deal in advance.
05
Round
A fixed window. Pieces live for one round, then the books close.
06
Auction
Kite is sold to the highest bidder; the winning bid is the premium.
07
Premium
What the kite buyer pays the ballast holder for taking the upside.
08
Vault
The locked share sits here for the whole round and cannot be touched in between.
09
Final price
One reading at close decides how the vault pays out to each piece.
10
Rejoin
Hold both pieces and you can fuse them back into the original share at any time.
11
Series
A run of rounds on the same share with the same ceiling rule.
12
Open listing
Any share that meets the published rules can get its own series.
13
Plain tokens
Both pieces are ordinary fungible tokens, so they move like any other token.
14
No leverage
There is nothing to borrow against, so no margin calls and no forced exits.
15
Open ledger
Locks, bids and payouts are all readable on chain by anyone.
Rejoin
Pieces can go back together
Hold one Ballast and one Kite from the same series and you can fuse them back into the share they came from. Nothing is lost by cutting, and nothing forces you to stay cut.
Earn on the steady side
Ballast holders collect the premium paid at auction.
Reach for the upside
Kite gives breakout exposure for a fraction of the share price.
Undo it whenever
Fuse both pieces to get the original share back before close.
Plain terms
Read before anything else
Risk
Both pieces can lose value. Kite can finish worth nothing, and Ballast falls with the share whenever the price sits below the ceiling. No contract is deployed and no audit is published yet.
